Twenty years in the metro
For over 20 years, Avid Builders has worked with homeowners across Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the greater Twin Cities area.
Most of what goes wrong in a remodel goes wrong before the first wall opens, in the gap between what was described and what was priced. We put the detail in at the design stage so the proposal holds. One customer described our estimate as landing almost spot on against the finished project, which is a strange thing to praise a builder for and exactly the thing worth praising.
Lamont runs the projects. Terry is the main trimmer and foreman.

Lake homes and cabins
Lake Home Remodel, Rustic Cabin Remodel, Main Floor Remodel. Three of the ten projects in our portfolio are Minnesota water homes, where the whole job is deciding what the room gives up so the view can have the wall.
What we build
Every band below is a room we finished, photographed as it stands. The rest of what we do is listed underneath, without a stock photograph pretending to be your basement.
Interior
The room the whole house ends up standing in. We work the layout and the storage before a single door front gets chosen, because a kitchen that photographs well and cooks badly is a failure you live with every evening.

Waterproofing, fall and ventilation get settled first. The freestanding tub and the walnut vanity are the part you see, but they are sitting on the part that decides whether the room is still sound in fifteen years.
Bathroom remodeling
Main level
Opening a main level is structural work wearing a finish. Beams, headers and the stone that carries the fireplace come first, then the trim that makes it look like the house was always this way.
Main level and whole homeIf the room you want is not on either list, it is still worth the phone call. Twenty years in, most of what we are asked for is a version of something already here.
How a project runs
We learn the home, what you want to change and what is not working now. Priorities, budget and expectations get talked through up front, before anyone draws anything.
Layout, materials and the awkward parts get worked out while changes are still cheap. You see the space before it is built and ask for adjustments. The final decisions stay yours.
A detailed proposal sets out scope, materials and next steps, and we go through it with you. Once it is signed the project is scheduled and materials are ordered.
The plans become the room. Managed carefully, with the communication our customers keep naming in reviews years after the job finished.
